May God ward off from you the calamity of
May God ward off from you the vicissitudes of time,
time, and far be it from you to be ill.
And forbid that you should ever fall ill.

I call God to witness: I did not know; nor was that
I bear witness before God, I know nothing of deception from you
treachery permissible or acceptable.
Nor have I found in you aught but good faith.

And by my life, had I known and then stayed beside
And by my life, if I had known you closely
you for a year, I would have counted it little.
For a year, that would have seemed to me but brief.

So when he speaks, what he says comes to pass; otherwise,
Or far removed is he from saying what he does not do.
it would be far from his character to say it.
