فَإِلى شَوقي يَكونُ المُنتَهى

If your cord has loosened from mine,

If your rope is made from my rope

Then my longing will be the final destination.

Then my longing will be the end.

لَم يُذَكِّرنيكَ خَطبٌ حادِثٌ

لَم يُذَكِّرنيكَ خَطبٌ حادِثٌ

إِنَّما يذكرُ مَن كانَ سَها

إِنَّما يذكرُ مَن كانَ سَها

No new calamity reminded me of you;

No new event has reminded me of you,

Only one who has forgotten needs reminding.

Rather, an absent one is remembered.
