ياO ظالِماًwrongdoer نَحَلascribed الإِساءَةwrongdoing غيرَهto someone other than himself
إِنِّيindeed I لِذاكَof that وَإِنand even if عَنَفتَyou are harsh لَقابِلُsurely accepting
O wrongdoer who has ascribed wrongdoing to another,
I indeed accept that, even if you are harsh.
أَمّاas for اللِّسانُthe tongue فَمُنصِفٌso it is fair مُتَبَدِّلٌchangeable
وَضَميرُand the inner depths قَلبِكَof your heart فيهِwithin it داءٌa sickness داخِلُinward
As for the tongue, it is fair, yet fickle;
and your heart's depths harbor an inward sickness.
فَإِذاso when نَطَقتَyou speak خَصَمتَنيyou outargue me فَكَأَنَّنيso it is as though I
لَكَto you قاطِعٌone who cuts حَبلاًa cord وَأَنتَand you الواصِلُthe one who joins
So when you speak, you outargue me, as though I
were severing the cord between us, while you were joining it.
بِاللَّهِby God رَبِّكَyour Lord هَلdoes يَسُرُّكَplease you أَنَّنيthat I
أَصبَحتُI have become مَقتولاًslain وَأَنتَand you القاتِلُthe slayer
By God, your Lord, does it please you that I
have been slain, while you are the slayer?
