مَن لَهُ عَهدٌ بِنَومٍ

يُرشِدُ الصَّبَّ إِلَيهِ

He who sleeps on a promise

May the morning guide him to it.

رَحمَ اللَّهِ رَحيماً

دَلَّ عَينَيَّ عَلَيهِ

God have mercy on the compassionate one

Who showed my eyes the way to it.

سَهِرَت عَيني وَنامَت

عَينُ مَن هُنتَ لَدَيهِ

My eyes were awake while the eyes

Of the one I pine for were sleeping.
