درٌّ يقصِّرُ دونَهُ التقويمُ
Your stature is truly upright, O you whose mouth
Your smile is true, O one whose mouth
Is pearls beyond all appraisal.
is pure pearls - the calendar falls short before it.
إنيindeed I لأبكيI surely weep مِنْbecause of جفاكَyour coldness وليand I have أبٌa father
إني لأبكي مِنْ جفاكَ ولي أبٌ

والثغرُ يضحكُ منكَ وهُوَ يتيمُ
Indeed, I weep at your coldness, though I have a father,
I weep from your disdain though I have a father,
And that mouth of yours laughs, though it is an orphan.
and your mouth laughs at me, an orphan.
