قد كنتَ كاتبَ سرٍّ خارجاً معهمْ

قد كنتَ كاتبَ سرٍّ خارجاً معهمْ

فصرتَ كاتبَ وَحْيٍ داخلٍ الدارِ

فصرتَ كاتبَ وَحْيٍ داخلٍ الدارِ

You once were a confidential scribe, going out with them.

You were once a secret scribe among them,

Then you became a scribe of revelation inside the house.

Now you are a scribe of revelation within the house.

كمْ قدْ كتبتَ عن الباغي لخشيتِه

كمْ قدْ كتبتَ عن الباغي لخشيتِه

فالآنَ لا تخشَهُ واكتبْ عنِ الباري

فالآنَ لا تخشَهُ واكتبْ عنِ الباري

How often you wrote on behalf of the oppressor for fear of him!

How much did you write in fear of the oppressor -

So now do not fear him, and write on behalf of the Creator.

Now, fear him not and write of the Creator.
