Lie between the understood and the spoken.
Between what is understood and what is said
كمْhow many طامعٍone who longs مِنْfrom دهرِهِhis days بالصفاfor serenity
كمْ طامعٍ مِنْ دهرِهِ بالصفا
والدهرُand time لاnot يصفوis serene لمخلوقِfor any creature
والدهرُ لا يصفو لمخلوقِ
How many long for serenity from their days,
How many are greedy from their time for purity
Yet time is serene for no creature.
Yet time is not pure for any creature
