قالوا تعدَّى عليك مغتصِباً

قالوا تعدَّى عليك مغتصِباً

ديوانك المشتهى إلى العاقلِ

ديوانك المشتهى إلى العاقلِ

They said, “He has wronged you, usurping

They said he transgressed against you by force

your poetry collection, so desirable to the discerning man.”

Taking your anthology coveted by the wise

فقلتُ لا تفزعوا عليَّ فقدْ

فقلتُ لا تفزعوا عليَّ فقدْ

أخذْتُ حقِّي وثُلْثَيِ الباطلِ

أخذْتُ حقِّي وثُلْثَيِ الباطلِ

So I said, “Do not fear for me, for indeed

So I said do not fret for me, for indeed

I have taken my due and two-thirds of the falsehood.”

I took my right and two thirds of falsehood
