ماnot الأغنياءُthe rich الأغبياthe foolish حجةٌan authority
ما الأغنياءُ الأغبيا حجةٌ
وإنْand even if هُمthey عنْfrom حبناlove for us مالواthey turned away
وإنْ هُم عنْ حبنا مالوا
The foolish rich are no proof,
The foolish rich are no authority,
even if they turn away from loving us.
And even if they turn away from loving us,
نرضىwe are content بماwith what يقسمُهُallots it ربُّناour Lord
نرضى بما يقسمُهُ ربُّنا
لناfor us علومٌlearning ولهمand for them مالُwealth
لنا علومٌ ولهم مالُ
We are content with what our Lord apportions:
We are content with what our Lord allots:
knowledge is ours, and wealth is theirs.
We have learning, and they have wealth.
