قالتْ شقائقُ قبرهِ

قالتْ شقائقُ قبرهِ

ولَرُبَّ أخرسَ ناطقُ

ولَرُبَّ أخرسَ ناطقُ

The anemones on his grave said—

His anemones said,

And indeed, many a mute speaks—

Though many a mute one speaks,

فارقتَهُ ولزمتُهُ

فارقتَهُ ولزمتُهُ

فأنا الشقيقُ الصادقَ

فأنا الشقيقُ الصادقَ

“You left him, and I stayed with him;

You left him, but I stayed,

So I am the true brother.”

So I'm his truthful friend.
