قولوا لمَنْ غيَّرَهُ منصبٌ

قولوا لمَنْ غيَّرَهُ منصبٌ

مَنْ أهملَ الأصحابَ عادوا عِدى

مَنْ أهملَ الأصحابَ عادوا عِدى

Tell him whom office has changed:

Tell those whom high office has changed

Whoever neglects his companions—they become enemies.

That when you neglect friends, they turn hostile

أما سليمانُ على ملكِهِ

أما سليمانُ على ملكِهِ

قدْ قالَ ما لي لا أرى الهُدْهُدا

قدْ قالَ ما لي لا أرى الهُدْهُدا

Did not Solomon, for all his kingship,

Yet Solomon, though a king

indeed say, “Why do I not see the hoopoe?”

Once said, "Where is the hoopoe? I see him not."
