خلعَتْ ثوبَ صِباها

خلعَتْ ثوبَ صِباها

وهْوَ غصنٌ يتثنَّى

وهْوَ غصنٌ يتثنَّى

She cast off the garment of her youth,

She cast off the garb of her youth,

while it was a swaying bough.

Though it was a pliant bough.

إنَّ قبراً قدْ حواها

إنَّ قبراً قدْ حواها

قدْ حوى بدراً وغُصنا

قدْ حوى بدراً وغُصنا

Indeed, a grave that has enclosed her

Lo, a grave now contains her,

has enclosed a full moon and a bough.

Holding a full moon and branch.
