قلْsay للفرنجِto the Franks تأدَّبواbe respectful وتجنَّبواand keep away
قلْ للفرنجِ تأدَّبوا وتجنَّبوا
فالريحُfor the wind جندُthe army of نبيناour Prophet إجماعاby common consent
فالريحُ جندُ نبينا إجماعا
Say to the Franks: Be respectful and keep away,
Tell the Franks to be polite and avoid us
for the wind is our Prophet’s army, by common consent.
For the wind is the army of our Prophet by consensus
إنْif قلَّعتْit uprooted فيon البرِّland أشجاراًtrees فكمْthen how many
إنْ قلَّعتْ في البرِّ أشجاراً فكمْ
فيat البحرِthe sea يوماًin a day شجَّرتْit made into trees أقلاعاsails
في البحرِ يوماً شجَّرتْ أقلاعا
If it has uprooted trees on land, how many
If it uprooted trees on land, how many
sails has it made into trees at sea in a single day!
Masts has it planted at sea one day
