كتابناour book خطُّهُits handwriting ضعيفٌpoor
كتابنا خطُّهُ ضعيفٌ
لكنَّbut مقدارَهُits worth مبجَّلْrevered
لكنَّ مقدارَهُ مبجَّلْ
Our book's handwriting is poor,
Our book, its script is weak,
But its worth is held in high esteem—
Yet its measure is sublime,
كالشمسِlike the sun ماnot حطَّdiminished مِنْfrom عُلاهاits eminence
كالشمسِ ما حطَّ مِنْ عُلاها
قميصُهاits shirt الواهِنُfrail المهلهلْtattered
قميصُها الواهِنُ المهلهلْ
Like the sun, whose eminence is not diminished
Like the sun, however low it sinks
By its frail, tattered shirt.
Its light shirt still gleams and shines.
