قد كان إذْ هوَ معسرٌ مستثقلاً
فغنِيْthen he grew rich فخفَّand grew light فطابَand became pleasing طيبَthe pleasantness of الراحِwine
فغنِيْ فخفَّ فطابَ طيبَ الراحِ
Once, when he was poor, he was considered a burden.
Then he grew rich, grew light, and became as pleasing as wine.
مالُthe wealth of الفتىthe young man كالروحِlike the soul حلَّتْit entered جسمَهُhis body
مالُ الفتى كالروحِ حلَّتْ جسمَهُ
إنَّindeed الجسومَbodies تخفُّgrow light بالأرواحِthrough souls
إنَّ الجسومَ تخفُّ بالأرواحِ
A young man's wealth is like the soul that has entered his body.
Indeed, bodies grow light through souls.
