أثلوجُ ضاعفْتِ الهمومَ وطالما

أثلوجُ ضاعفْتِ الهمومَ وطالما

كلفتِني ما ضرني تكليفُهُ

O snows, you have doubled my cares, and often

You doubled my sorrows and often

You have burdened me with what it hurt me to bear.

Assigned me what harmed me though I was assigned

إبلُ السحائبِ هِيَّجٌ في جوِّها

إبلُ السحائبِ هِيَّجٌ في جوِّها

وغمامُها كالقوسِ طارَ نديفُهُ

وغمامُها كالقوسِ طارَ نديفُهُ

The clouds’ camels are in rut in their sky,

The camels of clouds are restless in their atmosphere

And their cloud is like a carding bow, its carded cotton flying.

And their clouds like a bow whose cord is slack
