يا أهلَ مصرَ هكذا وليتمُ
حلباًAleppo لجلفٍto a boor مالكيِّMaliki المذهبthe legal school
حلباً لجلفٍ مالكيِّ المذهب
O people of Egypt, thus you have entrusted
O people of Egypt, thus it shall be
Aleppo to a boor of the Maliki school.

منamong دأبِهِhis habits سراًsecretly هناhere أصحابهhis companions
من دأبِهِ سراً هنا أصحابه
ويقولand he says قدindeed ظهرتْhave appeared جيوشُarmies of المغربِthe Maghrib
ويقول قد ظهرتْ جيوشُ المغربِ
