يا روضةَ حسنٍ ليتَها لي وحدي
الشركةُsharing فيكِin you قدْindeed أذابَتْhas melted كبديmy liver
الشركةُ فيكِ قدْ أذابَتْ كبدي
O garden of beauty, would that you were mine alone!
O garden of beauty, if only you were mine alone
Sharing you has indeed melted my liver.
Rivals in you have caused my heart to melt away
ماwhat ضرَّكِwould harm you أنthat تُسْقَيْyou be watered بماءٍwith water فردِone alone
ما ضرَّكِ أن تُسْقَيْ بماءٍ فردِ
والواجبُand what is required أنْthat يكونَit be بماءِwith the water of الوردِroses
والواجبُ أنْ يكونَ بماءِ الوردِ
What harm would it do you to be watered with water from just one?
Why should you not be watered with pure water?
And it ought to be with rosewater.
What's needed is the water of roses.
