قلبيmy heart لعمرُby the life of اللهِGod معلولُailing
قلبي لعمرُ اللهِ معلولُ
بماbecause of what جرىbefell للناسِto the people معْwith لولوLulu
بما جرى للناسِ معْ لولو
My heart, by God's life, is ailing
My heart is distraught for this life with Lulu,
because of what has befallen the people with Lulu.
For what has happened to people along with Lulu.
ياO ربُّLord قدْindeed شرَّدَdrove away عنَّاfrom us الكرىsleep
يا ربُّ قدْ شرَّدَ عنَّا الكرى
سيفٌa sword علىagainst العالمِthe world مسلولُunsheathed
سيفٌ على العالمِ مسلولُ
O Lord, sleep has been driven away from us
O Lord, time has scattered from us happiness,
by a sword unsheathed against the world.
A sword unsheathed against the world is Lulu.
وماand there is no لهذاfor this السيفِsword مِنْany (emphatic) مغمدٍone who sheathes
وما لهذا السيفِ مِنْ مغمدٍ
سواكَexcept You ياO مَنْone whose لطفُهُHis kindness السولُwhat is sought
سواكَ يا مَنْ لطفُهُ السولُ
And there is none to sheathe this sword
This sword has no scabbard,
but You, O You whose kindness is what we seek.
Except You, O Most Gentle and Forbearing.
