أفشىdisclosed إليَّto me صاحبيmy friend
أفشى إليَّ صاحبي
سراًa secret وَقَدْand indeed لقيتُهُI met him
سراً وَقَدْ لقيتُهُ
My friend disclosed to me
My friend confided in me
a secret when I met him.
A secret which I met
فقالَthen he said هلْquestion marker حفظتَهُyou kept it
فقالَ هلْ حفظتَهُ
فقلتْso I said بلrather نسيتُهُI forgot it
فقلتْ بل نسيتُهُ
Then he said, “Have you kept it?”
He asked, “Have you kept it?”
So I said, “Rather, I have forgotten it.”
I said, “No, I've forgotten it.”
