حبيبيmy beloved كمْhow much مجانبةٍavoidance وصدٍّand rejection
حبيبي كمْ مجانبةٍ وصدٍّ
علوٌّhaughtiness منكfrom you ذلكthat أمْor غلوُّexcess
علوٌّ منك ذلك أمْ غلوُّ
My beloved, how much avoidance and rejection!
My beloved, how much estrangement and rejection
Is that haughtiness on your part, or excess?
Is this arrogance from you or excessiveness?
ظلمتَyou have wronged وربماand perhaps إنif دامَcontinues هذاthis
ظلمتَ وربما إن دامَ هذا
يدبُّcreeps in أعوذُI seek refuge باللهِin God السلوُّforgetting one's beloved
يدبُّ أعوذُ باللهِ السلوُّ
You have wronged me; and perhaps, if this continues,
You have wronged me, and perhaps if this continues
forgetfulness of you will creep in—I seek refuge in God.
Resentment will set in. I seek refuge with Allah from rancor.
