كلِّall الورىhumankind فأناso I أقولُsay لتسمعاso you may hear

May my father be her ransom—a pockmarked woman, dear to
By my father Megadarra, beloved
all humankind; so I say, that you may hear:
To all creation, I say this for you to hear-
وكأنَّand as though وجهَكَyour face فوقَهُupon it جدريةٌpockmarks
وكأنَّ وجهَكَ فوقَهُ جدريةٌ
ذهبٌgold بسمطيwith two strings of لؤلؤٍpearls قَدْindeed رصِّعاwas inlaid
ذهبٌ بسمطي لؤلؤٍ قَدْ رصِّعا
And your face, with pockmarks upon it, seems like
As if your face were a stream
gold inlaid with two strings of pearls.
