إنَّ الوبا قدْ غلبا

إنَّ الوبا قدْ غلبا

وقدْ بدا في حلبا

وقدْ بدا في حلبا

Indeed, the plague has prevailed,

The plague has overcome

And has appeared in Aleppo.

And appeared in Aleppo

قالوا له على الورى

قالوا له على الورى

كافٌ ورا قلت وبا

كافٌ ورا قلت وبا

They said it has, against mankind,

They told it in the land

A kāf and a rāʾ; I said, “And a bāʾ.”

Enough, go back I said, woe
