إنْ رامَ ردفُكِ قتلي

إنْ رامَ ردفُكِ قتلي

فقاتلُ النفسِ يُقتلْ

فقاتلُ النفسِ يُقتلْ

If your rump seeks to kill me,

If your rejection kills me

then whoever takes a life is put to death.

Then my soul will kill in return

قالتْ فنعمانُ خدِّي

قالتْ فنعمانُ خدِّي

ينفي قصاصَ المثقَّلْ

ينفي قصاصَ المثقَّلْ

She said, “Then the Nuʿmān of my cheek

She said: "How lovely are my cheeks

rules out retaliation for killing with a heavy object.”

That deny retaliation from the burdened."
