إنْ يطشْ بعضُ كلامي

إنْ يطشْ بعضُ كلامي

إنَّ فضلي لا يطيشُ

إنَّ فضلي لا يطيشُ

If some of my words go astray,

If some of my words go astray,

surely my merit does not go astray.

Surely my merit does not stray.

ربَّ طيشٍ كانَ قصداً

ربَّ طيشٍ كانَ قصداً

وبهِ الشخصُ يعيشُ

وبهِ الشخصُ يعيشُ

Many a folly was deliberate,

Many a straying was with intent,

and by it a person lives.

And by it the person lives content.

لا يتمُّ السهمُ إلاّ

لا يتمُّ السهمُ إلاّ

ولهُ نصلٌ وريشُ

ولهُ نصلٌ وريشُ

An arrow is not complete unless

The arrow does not hit its mark,

it has an arrowhead and feathers.

Except it has a head and feathers bright.
