إنْif قلتI said قدُّكِyour figure غصنٌa bough
إنْ قلت قدُّكِ غصنٌ
قالتْshe said لهto it الغصنُthe bough ساجدْbowing down
قالتْ له الغصنُ ساجدْ
If I say, “Your figure is a bough,”
If I said your stature was a branch
She says, “The bough bows down before it.”
The branch bowed down and said
أوor قلتُI said ريقُكِyour saliva ثلجٌsnow
أو قلتُ ريقُكِ ثلجٌ
قالتْshe said تشبِّهُyou liken باردْcold
قالتْ تشبِّهُ باردْ
Or if I say, “Your saliva is snow,”
Or if I said your saliva was snow
She says, “You liken it to something cold.”
