مَنْwhoever كانَhas been مردوداًrejected بعيبٍfor a flaw فقدْthen indeed
مَنْ كانَ مردوداً بعيبٍ فقدْ
ردتنيَrejected me الغيدُthe graceful maidens بعيبينِfor two flaws
ردتنيَ الغيدُ بعيبينِ
If anyone has been rejected for a flaw, then
He who is rejected for a fault
the graceful maidens have rejected me for two.
Has rejected me for two faults
الرأسُthe head واللحيةُand the beard شاباboth turned gray معاًtogether
الرأسُ واللحيةُ شابا معاً
عاقبنيpunished me الدهرTime بشيبينِwith two grayings
عاقبني الدهر بشيبينِ
My head and beard have turned gray together;
My head and beard turned grey together
Time has punished me with a double graying.
Fate has punished me with two greys
