خلعْتُI cast off ثوبَrobe القضاءِjudgeship طوعاًwillingly
خلعْتُ ثوبَ القضاءِ طوعاً
هذاthis وماand not كنتُI was بالظلومِan oppressor
هذا وما كنتُ بالظلومِ
I willingly cast off the robe of judgeship.
I willingly cast off the robe of fate,
This I did, though I was no oppressor.
Though I was never unjust or unfair.
إنْif زالَdeparts جاهُprestige القضاءِjudgeship عنِّيfrom me
إنْ زالَ جاهُ القضاءِ عنِّي
يكفينيsuffices me الجاهُprestige بالعلومِthrough learning
يكفيني الجاهُ بالعلومِ
If the prestige of judgeship leaves me,
If I lose my reputation for justice,
The prestige of learning suffices me.
My reputation for knowledge will suffice.
