أرى الشيخَ شمسَ الدينِ أزمعَ رحلةً

أرى الشيخَ شمسَ الدينِ أزمعَ رحلةً

إلى حضرات القدسِ أفديهِ مِنْ شمسِ

إلى حضرات القدسِ أفديهِ مِنْ شمسِ

I see Sheikh Shams al-Din has resolved upon a journey

I see Sheikh Shams al-Din preparing for a journey

To the precincts of Jerusalem—I would ransom him, sun that he is!

To Jerusalem, I ransom him from the sun

ولوْ رامَ غيرَ القدسِ كنتُ منعتهُ

ولوْ رامَ غيرَ القدسِ كنتُ منعتهُ

وكيفَ يجوزُ المنعُ عن حضرةِ القدْسِ

وكيفَ يجوزُ المنعُ عن حضرةِ القدْسِ

Had he sought somewhere other than Jerusalem, I would have stopped him;

Even if he wanted other than Jerusalem, I would have prevented him

And how could it be right to bar him from the precinct of Jerusalem?

And how is preventing allowed from the precinct of Jerusalem
