أرى أناساً حرصوا

أرى أناساً حرصوا

حتى أزالوا زَيْنَهُمْ

حتى أزالوا زَيْنَهُمْ

I see people who were so greedy

I see people who were so eager

that they stripped away their adornment,

That they removed their own beauty

كأنهمْ لم يقرؤوا

كأنهمْ لم يقرؤوا

نحنُ قسمنا بينهمْ

نحنُ قسمنا بينهمْ

as though they had not read:

As if they never read

“We have apportioned among them.”

We have divided between them
