قلتُI said لفرّاto a furrier فراtore أديميmy skin
قلتُ لفرّا فرا أديمي
وزادَand increased صدّاًin shunning وطالَand grew long هجراin estrangement
وزادَ صدّاً وطالَ هجرا
I said to a furrier who had torn my skin
I said to a fawn, flee far away
and shunned me more and stayed away longer:
He became more distant and prolonged the estrangement
قدْindeed فرَّfled نوميmy sleep وفرَّand fled صبريmy patience
قدْ فرَّ نومي وفرَّ صبري
قالَhe said نعمْyes مذْsince عشقتُI fell in love with فرّاa furrier
قالَ نعمْ مذْ عشقتُ فرّا
“My sleep has fled, and my patience has fled.”
My sleep and patience have already fled
He said, “Yes, since I fell in love with a furrier.”
He said yes, since I fell in love with the fawn
