قبَّلْتُها للتلاقي

تقبيلَ شاكٍ وشاكرَ

I kissed her upon our meeting,

with the kiss of one both complaining and grateful.

A kiss of longing and of thanks

وقلتُ شوقيَ بادٍ

قالتْ ووصليَ حاضرْ

And I said, "My longing is plain."

And I said my yearning had passed

She said, "And union with me is at hand."
