بسنا وجهٍ منيرِ

I am smitten with a poor man—rather, a rich one,

I am poor yet rich,

In the radiance of a luminous face.

With a radiant, joyful face.

لا تلمْني في افتضاحي

لا تلمْني في افتضاحي

فغرامي بالفقيرِ

فغرامي بالفقيرِ

Do not blame me for my disgrace,

Reproach me not for my love,

For my passion is for the poor man.

For my heart belongs to the poor.
