غزاwent to war وصلَّىand prayed صائماًfasting عاكفاًin devotional retreat
غزا وصلَّى صائماً عاكفاً
وكُمِّلand was perfected الظاهرُthe outward بالباطنِby the inward
وكُمِّل الظاهرُ بالباطنِ
He went to war and prayed, fasting and in devotional retreat.
He fought and prayed fasting, devout,
And the outward was perfected by the inward.
The apparent perfected by the hidden,
ثلاثُthree حفْراتٍpits تملَّتْwere filled بهِwith him
ثلاثُ حفْراتٍ تملَّتْ بهِ
ياO شرفَhonor of المسكنِthe dwelling بالساكنِby the dweller
يا شرفَ المسكنِ بالساكنِ
Three pits were filled with him.
Three hollows filled by him,
How honored the dwelling is by its dweller!
O honor of the dwelling by the dweller!
