وليَhe assumed القضاءَthe judgeship وصارَand became لاnot
وليَ القضاءَ وصارَ لا
يلويturn aside ولاand does not يترفَّقُact gently
يلوي ولا يترفَّقُ
He assumed the judgeship and would not
He was granted authority and became uncompromising,
turn aside or show gentleness.
Neither bending nor showing mercy.
هاbehold قَدْindeed تفرَّقَhas scattered شملُهُhis gathered circle
ها قَدْ تفرَّقَ شملُهُ
إنَّindeed القضاءَthe judgeship مفرَّقُa source of division
إنَّ القضاءَ مفرَّقُ
Behold, his gathered circle has scattered;
Look how scattered his group has become,
indeed, judgeship brings division.
For destiny divides and separates.
