مِنْ أيِّ خمرٍ أنتَ سكرانٌ أمِنْ
كأسينِtwo cups أمor خدَّيْنِtwo cheeks أمor أحداقِeyes
كأسينِ أم خدَّيْنِ أم أحداقِ
From what wine are you drunk—is it from
Drunk with what wine art thou? From eyes of jet,
two cups, or two cheeks, or eyes?
Cheeks like the rose, or legs that graceful move?
ماnot شمَّرتshe bared ساقاًa leg لتسقيكَto give you a drink الطلاwine
ما شمَّرت ساقاً لتسقيكَ الطلا
إلاّexcept لتدهشَso that you marvel منat جمالِthe beauty of الساقِthe leg
إلاّ لتدهشَ من جمالِ الساقِ
She did not bare a leg to serve you wine
My anklets have not rung to give thee wine,
except to make you marvel at the beauty of the leg.
Save that amazed, their beauty thou might see.
