باللهِFor God's sake إنْif غنيتِهِمْyou sang to them فتبرقعيthen veil your face
باللهِ إنْ غنيتِهِمْ فتبرقعي
ياO نزهةَdelight of الأسماعِthe ears لاnot الأبصارِthe eyes
يا نزهةَ الأسماعِ لا الأبصارِ
For God's sake, if you sing to them, veil your face,
By Allah, if you sing to them unveiled
O delight of ears, not of eyes.
O delight of hearing, not of sight
غنيتِyou sang سافرةًunveiled لهمْto them فقلوبُهُمْso their hearts
غنيتِ سافرةً لهمْ فقلوبُهُمْ
فيin جنَّةٍparadise وعيونُهمْand their eyes فيin نارِhellfire
في جنَّةٍ وعيونُهمْ في نارِ
You sang to them unveiled, so their hearts
You sang unveiled, while their hearts
are in paradise, while their eyes are in hellfire.
Are in Paradise, and their eyes in Fire
