لفُّ الحريرِ ونشرُه لكِ حرفةٌ
فلفَفْتُso I folded ثمَّthen نشرتُI unfolded فيكِabout you نظاميmy verse
فلفَفْتُ ثمَّ نشرتُ فيكِ نظامي
Folding silk and unfolding it is your craft;
The weaving of silk and its unfolding is your craft,
So I folded, then unfolded, my verse about you:
So I wove, then unfolded in you my system,
فالقدُّso the figure منكof yours ووجنتاكِand your two cheeks ومبسمٌand a smiling mouth
فالقدُّ منك ووجنتاكِ ومبسمٌ
غصنٌa branch وتفاحٌand apples وحَبُّand grains غمامِof clouds
غصنٌ وتفاحٌ وحَبُّ غمامِ
Thus your figure, your two cheeks, and your smiling mouth are
Your stature, your cheeks, and a blossoming smile,
A branch, apples, and hailstones.
A branch, an apple, the love of a cloud.
