فقاتلُ النفسِ يُقتلْ

“If your rump seeks to kill me,

then the taker of a life is put to death.”

قالتْ ونعمانُ خدِّي

ينفي قصاصَ المثقَّلْ

ينفي قصاصَ المثقَّلْ

She said, “And my cheek’s Nuʿmān—its blood-red hue—

rules out retaliation for killing with a heavy blunt weapon.”
