وفارقَand he left المسكينُthe poor man أوطانَهُhis homelands
وفارقَ المسكينُ أوطانَهُ
وملْكَهُand his possessions ممتحناًafflicted بالمرضْwith illness
وملْكَهُ ممتحناً بالمرضْ
And the poor man left his homelands,
And his possessions, afflicted with illness.
وكمْand how many حوىhe amassed مِنْof جوهرٍjewels مُثْمِنْprecious
وكمْ حوى مِنْ جوهرٍ مُثْمِنْ
فماyet not فدىransomed الجوهرُthe jewels هذاthis العرضْaffliction
فما فدى الجوهرُ هذا العرضْ
And how many precious jewels he had amassed!
Yet the jewels could not ransom him from this affliction.
