  1. إنما البيرةُ بيرٌ

    رحلتي منها سعادهْ

    Al-Bira is nothing but a well.

    My departure from it is happiness.

  2. قيلَ والبيرةُ بيرٌ

    قلتُ بيرٌ وزيادَهْ

    It was said, 'And al-Bira is a well?'

    I said, 'A well—and more.'
