أحسنْdo good إلىto الناسِthe people وإلاand if not فلاthen do not
أحسنْ إلى الناسِ وإلا فلا
تعتبْreproach علىagainst الناسِthe people إذاwhen قالواthey speak
تعتبْ على الناسِ إذا قالوا
Do good to people; otherwise, do not
Do good to people, or else do not
reproach people when they speak.
Reproach people if they speak out
إذاif حرمْتَyou deprive الناسَthe people مالواthey turn away فماthen not
إذا حرمْتَ الناسَ مالوا فما
يردُّهمْbrings them back جاهٌstatus ولاnor مالُwealth
يردُّهمْ جاهٌ ولا مالُ
If you deprive people, they turn away; then neither
If you deprive people, they will not be swayed
status nor wealth will bring them back.
