يا ترجماناً لي ثمانونَ في

يا ترجماناً لي ثمانونَ في

ذمَّتِهِ مَنْ عزَّ بالمطْلِ هانْ

ذمَّتِهِ مَنْ عزَّ بالمطْلِ هانْ

O interpreter, eighty are owed to me by

him; whoever gains honor by delaying repayment is brought low.

إنَّ الثمانينَ وبُلَّغْتَها

إنَّ الثمانينَ وبُلَّغْتَها

قدْ أحوجَتْ سمعي إلى ترجمانْ

قدْ أحوجَتْ سمعي إلى ترجمانْ

Indeed, eighty years—and may you reach them—

have left my hearing in need of an interpreter.
