دعِ الكأسَ مِنْ نقشِها
فصافٍfor clear wine بصافٍin clear glass أحبْdearer
فصافٍ بصافٍ أحبْ
Leave the cup unengraved;
Leave the cup from its engraving
for clear wine in clear glass is dearer.
Clear with clear I love
إذاwhen ذهبتْit is gilded بالطلاwith wine
إذا ذهبتْ بالطلا
فقدthen indeed طُليتْit has been coated بالذهبْwith gold
فقد طُليتْ بالذهبْ
When it is gilded with wine,
When it goes with the rising
it has indeed been coated with gold.
