ولستُ أخافُ طاعوناً كغيري

ولستُ أخافُ طاعوناً كغيري

فما هوَ غيرُ إحدى الحسنيينِ

فما هوَ غيرُ إحدى الحسنيينِ

And unlike others, I do not fear the plague.

I do not fear the plague like others,

For it is nothing but one of two good outcomes.

For it is but one of two good things:

فإنْ متُّ استرحتُ من الأعادي

فإنْ متُّ استرحتُ من الأعادي

وإنْ عشتُ اشتفتْ أذني وعيني

وإنْ عشتُ اشتفتْ أذني وعيني

For if I die, I will find rest from my enemies.

If I die, I find rest from adversaries,

And if I live, my ear and eye will find satisfaction.

And if I live, my eyes and ears delight.
