كانَ واللهِ عفيفاً نزهاً

ولهُ عرضٌ عريضٌ ما اتهمْ

ولهُ عرضٌ عريضٌ ما اتهمْ

By God, he was chaste and upright.

And his honor was ample, never impugned.

وهْوَ لا يدري مداراةَ الورى

وهْوَ لا يدري مداراةَ الورى

ومداراةُ الورى أمرٌ مُهمْ

ومداراةُ الورى أمرٌ مُهمْ

Yet he knew nothing of dealing tactfully with people,

And dealing tactfully with people is an important matter.
