اللهَ اللّهَ لا تبقوهُ في حلب

يا أهلَ مصرَ وفينا راقبوا اللَّهَ

يا أهلَ مصرَ وفينا راقبوا اللَّهَ

For God's sake, for God's sake, do not keep him in Aleppo.

O people of Egypt, be mindful of God in your dealings with us.

دأباً يذمُّ فنونَ العلم محتقراً

دأباً يذمُّ فنونَ العلم محتقراً

بها ومَنْ جَهِلَ الأشياءَ عاداها

بها ومَنْ جَهِلَ الأشياءَ عاداها

He habitually disparages the branches of knowledge, scornful

of them; and whoever is ignorant of things is hostile to them.
