جعلْتَ مضيفَنا جبناً رديئاً

وكناً مظلماً لم يرضِ ساكنْ

You turned our guesthouse into wretched cheese,

You made our hospitality wretched cheese,

And a dark lair no occupant could abide.

And a dark nest that pleased no dweller.

فلا يكثرْ لكَ الرحمنُ خيراً

فلا يكثرْ لكَ الرحمنُ خيراً

فما إنْ طبّنا جبنٌ ولكنْ

فما إنْ طبّنا جبنٌ ولكنْ

So may the All-Merciful grant you no abundance of good—

So may the Most Merciful not multiply good for you,

For cowardice is certainly not our way—but...

For cheese is not our habit, but—
