قيلَ لي نائمٌ فقلتُ كذبتمْ

قيلَ لي نائمٌ فقلتُ كذبتمْ

هو يقظانْ لو درى ما توارى

هو يقظانْ لو درى ما توارى

I was told, “He is asleep”; I said, “You lie!”

I was told you were asleep, so I said they lied

He is awake; had he known, he would not have hidden.

You are awake, if only you knew what was concealed

فتنبَّهْ لزائريكَ وإنس

فتنبَّهْ لزائريكَ وإنس

نِعَمَ اللَّهِ إنَّ فيها نفارا

نِعَمَ اللَّهِ إنَّ فيها نفارا

So attend to your visitors, and tame

So be aware of your visitor and forget

God’s blessings, for they are prone to flee.

The blessings of Allah, for in them there is relief
