وكنتُand I used to إذاwhenever قابلتُI met جبرينَJibrin زائراًas a visitor
وكنتُ إذا قابلتُ جبرينَ زائراً
يكونwould be لقلبيfor my heart بالمقابلةِthrough the meeting الجبرُsolace
يكون لقلبي بالمقابلةِ الجبرُ
And whenever I met Jibrin as a visitor,
When I met Jabreen as a visitor,
the meeting would bring solace to my heart.
My heart would find solace in his company,
كأنَّas though بنيthe sons of نبهانَNabhan يومَon the day of وفاتِهِhis death
كأنَّ بني نبهانَ يومَ وفاتِهِ
نجومُstars of سماءٍa sky خرَّfell منfrom بينِهاamong them البدرُthe full moon
نجومُ سماءٍ خرَّ من بينِها البدرُ
On the day of his death, the sons of Nabhan were like
As if the day the son of Nubahan passed,
stars in a sky from whose midst the full moon had fallen.
The full moon fell from a starry sky.
